The Basilica of San Petronio

porta-maggiore
The Porta Magna is decorated by the sculptures of  Jacopo Della Quercia of Siena. The two doors to the side are adorned with scenes from the Old Testament.

The facade of the church has not been unfinished. Architects including Baldasarre, Peruzzi, Vignola and Palladio were commissioned to propose solutions but they were all rejected.

The 65-metre-tall (213 ft) campanile was built at the end of the 1400s.
